About Future Shocks

Future Shocks came to be around 1999, the domain name was acquired after Rob Young read the novel by Alvin Toffler of the same name. Rob began the site as a science fiction & fantasy ezine that evolved into what it is today and that is a site that is focused on moves, comics & games. The primary audience of Future Shocks has been men between the ages of 18 and 40 and the site has strived to keep a loyal fan base.

Rob Young did shop the Future Shocks name around to Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, Watchmen) & Rebellion Comics (Judge Dredd & Aliens vs Predator) but the parties could not agree on any concrete terms and the process was scuttled.

In 2007, Rob had a son and found that he was slowly being exposed again to his childhood though him. He found himself playing GI Joe with his son, explaining why Wolverine had claws, and sitting down in front of the new Transformer movies, remembering that when he was a kid, he watched transformers as well. It was a surreal experience to see all the characters that he grew up with have come full circle for his son to enjoy.
